Bridgett Watkins: A Life on the Trail

Bridgett Watkins’ journey in mushing began at an early age in the wilds of Alaska, where she quickly fell in love with the sport. A champion junior sprint musher by 13, Bridgett’s passion for the trail continued to grow. In 2018, she and her husband Scotty, along with their two children, Timber and River, started their own team, Kennel on a Hill, raising and training sled dogs from her family’s elite racing bloodlines.

Over the years, Bridgett has raced across Alaska, taking on nearly every major race the state has to offer. From the rugged interior to the coastal routes, she tested herself and her dogs at Kennel on a Hill in some of the harshest conditions, pushing her limits while growing her bond with Alaska’s wild landscapes.

In 2023, Bridgett completed the Iditarod and was honored with the prestigious Herbie Nayokpuk Award, recognizing her embodiment of perseverance, teamwork, and dedication to the spirit of mushing. Now retired from competitive racing, Bridgett continues to inspire others with her story of resilience, faith, and the relentless pursuit of dreams.

Our Dogs

Our dogs are more than just a team—they are family. After years of racing across Alaska’s rugged trails, they’ve earned their retirement and now enjoy a life filled with love, adventure, and plenty of belly rubs. While they may not be charging down race trails anymore, their spirit of adventure lives on in every snowy romp and cozy fireside nap. Each one has a unique personality and story, and they continue to bring joy to our lives every day.
